"Dory."

There was a sadness this weekend. Lovely Viv had to make a very difficult decision about a member of her family. She had a dog, who at 17 was not able to really enjoy herself anymore, and had reached the end of her journey.

I first met Cass about 6 years ago, when she would race around the garden at top speed, always missing the children on her joyful romps, sidestepping them daintly, watching them grow and protecting them. Checking on them in daylight hours and when they had gone to bed.
As she got older her breath would rival Stinky's and she was nicknamed "Mistress Halitosis"...... and then towards the last couple of months as her short term memory slowly and with dignity gradually disapeared she was called with affection "Dory" .

She was greatly loved. By everyone. It wont be the same to not be greated by her. I can't really imagine the missing Lovely Viv is experiancing. You made the right decision. It was the right time.
