Shhhh.....

In 4 weeks and 4 days I am going back in time.

...about 55 years.

I can't wait to revisit it.
I can't wait to re-see all that I saw last time.
I can't wait to see more.
I can't wait to drink all day and see nothing.
I can't wait to listen.
I can't wait to talk.
I can't wait to really laugh.
I can't wait to think.
I can't wait to see the sea crashing against 'my wall'.
I can't wait to go back in time.
I can't wait to look into the future.
I can't wait to see them.

This is my birthday present to myself. ... and I just can't think of a better one.
I need to go.
I need to see them.
Somehow, it seems longer since the last time I went, than the 10 years gap that I didnt see them at all. ... how is that possible?

I am so excited.

My Favorate Things

Autumn.

I love it.

I love the smell of leaves which is an absolute favorate of mine....walking through leaves and kicking them, so the smell is all round you and you can revel in it. The final cutting of lawns, of colder air all crisp and clean, which is sunny and warm during the day and colder and need of jumpers in the eveings.

I love the views of leaves turning all those lovely reds, oranges, yellows and browns getting darker and darker. The suprise of a vivid red amonst the browns and a group of trees all at different stages and it being so beautiful that the colours stop me in my tracks and takes my breath away.

I love misty mornings, knowing that the sun will eventually break through the mist and melt it away, but before it does seeing the patterns of spider webs with droplets of water on them, and blades of dewy grass.

The wearing of jumpers is comforting, like having a hug all day from material that is soft and warm and the need not to wear a coat yet, so you are free to move as you like, without having to be constricted.

If one season could go on longer than the others, I would choose autumn.

(and of course...there's my birthday.......)

Hands on

A persons hands.

When I was at Laa-Laa's house not so long ago, we were looking at some old photo's. There was a pic of someones hands...... that was all the photo was of. I knew imediatly who the photo was of. Laa-Laa thought it was wierd and laughed at me, but someones hands are completely individual to them and I love looking at peoples hands.

There are people in my life who's hands I would always be able to recognise. When I went last easter to the 1950's I was bowled over by the sight of oldest friends hands. I had forgotten what they looked like, but just like the familiar smell of her house, the sight of her hands bought back enormous memories.

My thumbs are completely straight. No curve or arc to them at all. Others peoples thumbs bend and this fasinates me! I use my hands all the time when I am talking, randemly waving them around using them as exclamation points or to dismiss something. Other peoples hand movements bring my attention to what they are saying, Lovely Viv uses her hands in such a cool way, almost taking off when she is enthusiastic about something. There are people that use hand movements in a non-convincing way, and I am not sure that they agree with what they are saying, but are using their hands to convince either me or them of what they are talking about.

Holding hands should be compulsary with those you love, a thread of togetherness when you cant hug each other. Holding hands with someone whose hands feel steady, cool and strong, ready to catch you if you were to fall, reasureing, friendly and trustworthy, and to unpredictably pull you in for a hug is something that makes me feel really good and smile alot about.

What REALLY???

Catholisism.

No sex before marrage. Apparently they can have sex with people that they dont think there is a future with, but if they see a long term future with a person, then its a very firm 'No thank you'.

I dont understand this AT ALL. And on so many levels.
Ok, so religious beliefs are held to the very centre of the person who believes in that religion, and each to their own and all that, but surely the 'I can if i dont like you, and I cant if I do' is contradictory and just backward.

Now, alot of religions believe that you should wear white on your wedding day because you are pure and virginal. And you should keep yourself for the one you are going to spend the rest of your life with. And thats a lovely idea, but who really does it? I mean really does it????

I know I couldnt. (please can family members who read this now stop reading!!) I dont believe that I could marry in haste..... I cant see that working for me, and for the other person in the relationship with me. ~I take a long time to trust anybody, so cannot see myself marrying anyone quickly. So therefore I will also not be having sex for a long time.

Also I would never marry anyone I had not had sex with. I really wouldnt. I, now this may be a girl thing, or just a me thing, but I 'test' people with things. I introduce my new/current partner to different situations and different people and places to see how they react. And how they react says alot about them and I can make choices and decisions based on how they react. Also you have get to know the person you are with, and the more time you spend with them the better you know them. How could you leave a massive part of your relationship unexplored and undiscovered?

So if I was to marry someone with out having sex with them I would feel that I wouldnt know them enough to marry them. What if their sexual preferances were really different to mine. (not going there!!) Or we didnt 'fit' together...you know what I mean, there are people that you have sex with that its just wrong......your bodies dont work together, and if you were honest you'd just put the kettle on and laugh about it.....anyway, what if that happened on your wedding night??!!??

So, as this massive rant probably says without me having to spell it out (!) is that for me religion can keep its vestil virgins. I like sex (please dont be reading this Mumbly) and religious beliefs are not going to make me feel guilty for liking it.

7 deadly sins

Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed and Sloth.

These are the 7 deadly sins described by Pope Gregory the Great, but what are they today?

Radio 4 (bless them!) reports that in a survey by 2000 people the seven deadly sins should read, in this age, like this;
Apathy, Selfishness, Hypocrisy, Indifference, Intolerance, Ignorance, Deciet and Waste, Cruelty and Cynicism.

(Now radio 4 is for those amongst us who want to think about things as well as listen to music, but in their poll I can count 10 sins there...not 7!)

They also say that Religion, Spin, Celebrity-ism, Gossip and more 'way out' suggestions (steady there) include Poor diction, Noisy Leaf Blowers, (?) GOGism (Grumpy Old Gitism), Dropping Litter and Spitting were all in the top 20 things that their listeners wanted on the list.

So, what do you think?
Do you think that the old list covers all those things that you think of as a sin?
What does the word 'sin' mean today?
Do you believe that 'sin' is a word that still has meaning today?
Do you think that the new radio 4 list is more appropriate now?
What would you have on the list?

Spank it.

I have a "cat problem"

In the bathroom.

When we moved in here there was a vague cat-wee smell in the hall. I have scrubbed and re-scrubbed the carpet and there is always shake-and-vac (how cool and yet horribly annoying is that advert?!) on the carpet. The smell in the hall is now gone, thankfully.

However, in the bathroom there began a smell. Which on investigation was recient cat-wee. I knew which one of the little 'darlings' it was and yesterday I caught her in the squatting position so I spanked her much to her disbelief, I have never done that before, its more a mutual big-love thing going on, but I cannot and will not have a cat turning my house into a litter tray. (obviously now I shall find a turd on my bed somewhere, but that will be a future posting!)

Today I pulled up the carpet. No carpet, no weeing (well thats the plan anyway...well the human plan, I cant talk for the incontinant cat)
I really hope this works. I really love my cat, but this is discusting. I have recieved various good advice from lots of people about this and am going to follow all of it.
I would think that within a couple of days the smell will be gone and with the advice I have been given it will never return.

Fingers crossed!

Recovery...well almost

This morning I went to see Blade.

He is back from where he has been while recovering from ligament damage. When riden by someone very light he is sound. He is to be re-scanned to see if there is any residue damage or whether he can be riden regularily again. (plllleeeeeaaassee let his ligament be fully recovered!!)

He was in the stable when I got there. I went into the stable and hugged him. And he let me!...well to be honest I didnt give him the opportunity not to let me.

It was so good to see him.
