Whats in a Name?

Are there names that are prevoke images in your head?
Meeting someone who has a name the same as a loved one instantly makes me feel more comfortable in the company of the new person, like the (for me anyway) smell of that person, and the general "happiness" of them...smilie people = good feeling, frowny people = bad feeling.

In the same vein, introduce me to someone that has a name that has a bad association for me and I take a while to warm to them.

A name that is unusual is always cool. There are loads of Johns (both my Dads are 'Johns') and Richards ( I know 4 of them (one is especially lovely!!)) however, there are 'new' and 'cool' names that take the ...... well they make you blink a bit!

The 'Apple' 'Moses' 'Suri' 'Phinnaeus' 'Shiloh' 'Brooklyn' brigade..... now unusual can be good..... I dont think you'd meet many "Apple's"..... and you would cirtainly remember her! (I quite like Suri!!)

In all this, can there be names that you have to get used to?
I think that yes, there are names so unusual that it takes a while to use them. That makes you want to give the person a nickname or something softer than their original.

....and hope they dont mind!

(...or alternatively introduce them to everybody as John or Richard)

lybxx
