Joy

There are many things that bring joy.

This is obviously a personal thing..... what makes you feel full of joy may make another feel slightly nauseous.

For me it is lots of things. One of the things highest on the list is spending time with those I love.

On monday I picked up Janey's children...both teenagers.... (and "cool") from where they were and took them to where they were meant to be. On the way back we were chatting and had background music on in the car.

I looked after these teenagers about 6 years ago in the summer holidays, I was "weird" (they thought I was weird!!!...and, they told me...and still do actually...that I am not a proper grown up...and they know I am just pretending to be one....out of the mouths of babes!!) enough for them to enjoy spending time with me and I loved their company. (Still do)

Anyway, as they were younger and not so "cool" they would sing unselfconciously while doing stuff...and very loudly in the car.....with Small trying to do the same (she was 3!)

Anyway, on the car journey a song came on that I like....but you have to be quite brave to sing in the company of others as its quite difficult and unless you have perfect pitch you are going to sound like a dying cat.
I turned the stereo up loud.
And demanded singing.

..... And there we were....all 4 of us...singing our hearts out....

And really laughing.

It filled me with joy for many reasons. I have known these nearly grown-ups for a long time. They are good people. They will continue to be good people all their lives. I really enjoy spending time with them. They are funny and thoughtful and inteligent and really very "cool"

....And the fact that they can still humour me enough to sing to something I have chosen (ie not cool) and take the mickey out of me the way that they do makes me feel joy.

lybxx
