Britishness (ish)
Do you know what the British Public are really good at...or one of the things anyway...
Getting out of the way of the emergancy services.
Now I know that it doesnt sound like a big thing....and compared to world peace and a cure for whatever is ailing Mr. Mathews it isnt really, but you know, its a thing that we are good at!
I was in traffic....sorry traffic about a week ago....bumper to bumper an endless line of cars square wheeling themselves towards some point in the future where we could use our right feet effectively. Three lanes of us.
Suddenly behind us came the sound of a siren. Without making a fuss (oh how teribly British of us) we moved. Just moved. Like Moses parting the Red Sea we just moved forward and sideways silently and effectively allowing the emergancy services to drive down the middle of the two lanes like there was no cars on the road at all.
It shows we care, "there by the grace of God" (oooooo two biblical referances!!) hoping that if we were ever to need a Man In Uniform (oh please!) that other people would move for us so that they could get to us quicker and so therefore help that we needed would start as soon as possible.
We're good people us British. (in a slighty odd fashion!)
lybxx
